I just realized what the time was, school should
have finished about 10 minutes ago, so I told my mum I was staying behind at
homework club. Lucian invited me into his house. He was not much younger than
Rosen, about a month or two.
Once inside, I looked around. It was a complete mess. In all honesty, I wanted
to clean it up more than anything. The boys didn’t seem bothered, but I
insisted on making it homelier. They didn’t object, and I forced them to help. After
at least an hour and a half, Lucian’s sister came home.
“Lucian Santini! When did you tell me we had guests?” She also had a strong
Italian accent, and the same black hair. They almost looked like twins, but I
could tell she was older than him. Her name was Isabella, Bella for short.
“Bella, I did not know Rosen was bringing Robyn over! Mi dispiace.” Lucian apologised.
“It is okay, piccolo fratello.”
Isabella told her brother, flicking her midnight black hair out of her jade
eyes, which were now focused on me. “Robyn, it is very nice to meet you, are
you a friend of Lucian’s or Rosen’s?”
“Rosen, and you too.” I smiled at her. She was nice enough to not say anything
else about Rosen and I. Well there was no Rosen and I, we just met today. I
felt he barely knew me, but I knew his whole life story.
Rosen took me up to his room. I knew he was either going to tell me to get
lost, or to talk.
“Robyn, I’m sorry I lost it earlier, I didn’t mean to lash out at you. It’s
just that it’s a stupid idea that we could find Erin and Olivia. They’re lost,
I know they are. How could Erin escape from kidnappers when she wasn’t even a
teenager? I mean, there’s already been a search party for both of them, they
gave up years ago, if they couldn’t find them, what makes you think we can?”
I stared at the ground. “I know, but I just wanted to make you feel better.”
There was a moment of silence. I looked up to find him once again staring at
me. “What about your father? Is there a chance we can find him?”
He thought about it for a minute. “I guess we could try. But what happens when
we actually find him?”
I shuffled closer to him. “Do you think you could do it? Put a bullet in his
head?”
“I want him to pay for what he’s done.”
“Would you rather he suffered, or just killed him on the spot?”
“I want him to be in as much pain as he caused.”
“Turn him in to the police, he could get charged with the murders of your
sisters and mother.”
“I can’t.”
I was about to ask why, but then I remembered, he’s also on the run from the
army. If they catch him, they’ll send him back, and there’s no way he can go
back, not after he ran away.
“Guess we’re on a man-hunt then.” A smile spread across his face.
“Would,” He paused. “Would you join me, Robyn?” He held out his hand.
I was tempted to run away with Rosen, to help him hunt down his dad. Sure it’d
be a tale to tell the grandkids, but I could die doing this. What would happen
to my family, would they miss me? The biggest decision of my life was about to
be made. I had no chance to think it through.
“Only if you promise to keep me and not ditch me halfway through?” I smiled at
him, and grabbed his hand, still with my phone number on, and shook it.
“Welcome to the crew.”
“Hey guys, mind if I come in?” Lucian knocked on the door.
“Come in, bro’.” Rosen called. Lucian swung the door open, half-dancing as he
walked in. I giggled like a schoolgirl, wait I was a schoolgirl, not for long
though, since I was about to go on a mad hunt for an evil man, and possibly
become a criminal.
“What did you want anyway?” Rosen asked Lucian.
Lucian sighed, and turned to face us, “You got to help me get away from
Isabella. She’s driving me insane. I mean, big sister yeah, but that aside
she’s goddamn annoying!”
Rosen and I laughed, and then looked at each other, he nodded. “I have just the
ticket.”
“You come with us, on the journey of a lifetime.” Rosen jumped in.
“Oh yeah, where to?” Lucian suddenly seemed interested.
“To kill my father.” Rosen said with face as straight as a statue.
Lucian’s eyes widened with fear. “You can’t be serious? With her? You guys just
met!”
“She gave me the idea, and it’s more than you did!” Rosen was shouting now.
Lucian began to look angrier. “I gave you a house, and I hid you from the
police! You’re just going to give that all away for some stupid idea that you
could kill your father?!”
“Yep.”
Lucian stopped for a moment, and looked his cousin in the eye. “I’m in.”
They shook hands, and laughed. I sat awkwardly on the bed.
“Come here,” They both gestured for me to join them in the centre. They held
their arms out for a hug, we lingered there for a moment. It was from then on
we would work together as a team to hunt down and kill Mitchel Clay, the man
responsible for the death of Serena Clay.
